Description
We're looking for an Industrial Engineer to be based in our Tennessee Distribution Center and tasked with leading process improvement efforts, WM implementations, and labor management design and deployment for our Hot Topic brands. This role will identify, develop, and promote new technologies, methods, and processes to improve our overall productivity and lead to efficiency gains for us, and a better experience for our customers. This is a great opportunity to implement new ideas and make an impact on a growing multi-channel multi-brand fulfillment network while also servicing our distribution center in Riverside, California.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Assist in the upgrade of our Warehouse Management system to Manhattan Associates latest platform MAWM
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), benchmarks, and best practices for the Distribution Centers (DC) utilizing the Labor Management (LM) system of Manhattan
- Implement Labor Management (LM) for all operations and functions in both DC’s
- Evaluate the operational impacts of strategic projects and initiatives by conducting workflow analyses, value engineering, and operations research
- Collect and analyze LM performance data to make recommendations to management for revising existing or developing new standards for improvement of efficiency, productivity, and quality
- Maintain current engineering standards for DC operations while developing a methodology to conduct time and motion studies for ongoing standard evaluations
- Develop project schedules, milestones, and budgeting to support operational projects
- Deliver key updates and recommendations to senior leadership
- Oversee the layout and design of distribution/fulfillment operations to optimize flow, alleviate bottlenecks, enhance workstation ergonomics, reduce labor costs, improve service times, enhance product quality/accuracy, etc
- Design and implement system and process solutions that optimize end-to-end supply chain productivity and efficiency while maintaining safety, quality, and customer service standards
- Procure various supply chain solutions including hardware, software, & supporting technology as required, and perform ROI analyses and cost/benefit analyses for capital expenditures and projects
- Some Travel Required
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
- Familiar with Manhattan or other WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) along with MHE systems (material handling equipment)
- Solid MS Office skills with an emphasis on Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effectively interacting with all levels of the organization and customers, ensuring technical recommendations are clearly understood and aligned with business needs
- Understanding distribution and fulfillment strategies (waving, slotting, increased storage density, productivity rates, sortation systems, AutoCAD layouts, etc.)
- Strong project management and leadership skills to implement productivity changes effectively
- Accountable for delivering results and viable solutions to business challenges by proactively addressing obstacles and resolving issues while reducing waste
- Analytical skills to evaluate and interpret data to create reports
- Experience in conducting motion and time studies for the development of future engineered labor standards
