Sourcing & Production Manager, Non-Apparel

We're looking for a an expert in, sourcing to join the Hot Topic team and manage the production process from point of conception to finished product for all Hot Topic brands. This Production/Sourcing Manager will lead the strategy and production process, partnering with merchandising, design, vendors and others to bring our non-apparel product ideas to life.


  • Manage production process from product development to finished product/WIP report
  • Analyze business needs, develops and implements global sourcing strategies for the assigned categories
  • Work closely with Design/Technical Design team to develop licensor appropriate product while achieving target IMU goals
  • Manage approvals process with licensors and follows up in a timely manner
  • Assess existing and new vendor, factory and supplier capabilities against the assortment plan for volume, quota, costs, compliance, and lead-times; makes recommendation for a sourcing matrix
  • Manage and build long term vendor partnerships and alliance, cultivating the brand’s relationship worldwide
  • Develop and source fabrics and trims; obtains approvals for fabric, lab dip, and trims and communicates comments to the factories
  • Work closely with the Buying team to ensure vision of product is achieved during the sourcing process
  • Communicate effectively with Buyer; update the teams regularly on deliveries; alerts the team of any unexpected issues and negotiates resolutions with vendors
  • Liaison for cross-functional partnerships and relationships with Buying, Import, Vendor Relations, and Traffic teams
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally when travel is permitted


  • 6+ year of experience in working in product development/production with oversea vendors
  • Ability to identify global sourcing trends and strategies
  • Knowledge of manufacturing non-apparel/accessories and other categories
  • Experienced in executing non-apparel production calendars
  • Excellent negotiation skills, understanding of molds and other costs attributed to non-apparel items
  • Illustrates a dedication to meeting requirements of internal and external customers, responding to all customer requests promptly and thoroughly
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to work in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback and is a solid verbal and written communicator
  • Meets deadlines, prioritizes appropriately, copes well with change, and maintains composure under pressure
  • Is accountable for results, approaches obstacles proactively and looks for ways to resolve problems and issues
